🥊 Quick Strike

Catch mobile users before they quietly leave

A SaaS user cancels, so you get one last chance to win them back. A mobile user just stops opening your app. Here are three quick ways to spot the drop-off early, while you can still help.

THE HIT

Find your first win. Pick the one action that makes your app worth keeping, like saving a first item or setting a first reminder. Then check how many new users do it in their first session. In App Store Connect, compare Day 1 and Day 7 return rates by install date, app version and acquisition source. You will see which release or channel brings people who stay.

Make the next visit easier. If a user has not finished that first action, shorten the path when they come back. Fewer taps means more people reach the moment your app clicks. Ask for push permission only after they have a reason to say yes, like right after they schedule a reminder. A yes at the right moment gives you a way to reach them later.

Clear out dead push tokens. When someone uninstalls, their push token can stop working. Firebase flags these with an UNREGISTERED error. Delete those tokens from your server so your reach numbers stay honest and you stop sending to people who are gone.

DO THIS TODAY (10 minutes)

  1. Write down the one action that shows a new user got value from your app.

  2. Open App Store Connect and view retention by install date. Note your Day 1 and Day 7 numbers.

  3. Filter by app version and source. Find the one with the lowest Day 7.

  4. Open that version's first session and cut one tap or screen before the first win.

Catch the drop-off early. It is far easier than winning back someone who already left.
